BEING AN ARTIST IN THE AGE OF AI

Thinking as an artist in the age of AI means continually striving for originality and creativity. AI can be a tool for this, but not the end point or source. The emphasis in this situation should be on the fact that AI is a TOOL for artists, not the artist itself.

As for most things, I think the key to this relationship is moderation. If the artist cannot exist without AI, are they really an artist? Although AI creates exciting opportunities, one has to be careful not to forget how to exist and create in its absence.

I think it would be interesting to explore AI through art, but not by having it be the final art piece, but by building on it in a commentary that invites viewers to see the AI input from an outside perspective. There is a difference, for example, between a final project being AI and using AI to progress a pre-existing human idea.
